Over the past 5 years as a beauty junkie, I’ve been able to try so many different products ranging from luxury, high-end and affordable. While I do love to try new things, there are just certain products that I will ALWAYS repurchase and keep in my collection no matter what! To find out what makeup products I can’t live without, just keep reading.
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation
This foundation is my favourite for all occasions! The coverage is medium to full which makes it great for everyday wear or special occasions. What I love the most is the finish, it’s satin-matte so no matter what skin type you have it’ll work great with your skin. I also find that it lasts throughout the day without making my skin look greasy or dry – it’s right in the middle! Plus, considering it’s a high end foundation, I don’t find the price tag to be the worst. It retails for $39 CAD.
Honourable mention: Regardless of what skin type you have, the Maybelline Fit Me and L’Oreal Fresh Wear Foundation are both amazing options! They leave a beautiful satin finish and are medium coverage.
Milani Baked Blush in the shade Luminoso
I LOVE blush. I always used to be jealous of my paler friends who naturally had a “flush” in their skintone. For the longest time I always stuck to mauvey/rosey blushes but when I finally got my hands on the Milani Baked Blush Luminoso, my world changed. While I love the whole range of baked blushes as a whole, but this particular peachy shade just looks SO good of any skintone! I also go for blushes that have a satin/sheen finish because it adds a bit of dimension to the cheeks and adds a beautiful subtle glow. The best part? The price! Depending where you go in Canada, Milani blushes tend to retail around $7.99-9.99 CAD.
Honourable mention: If you feel like splurging, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes are worth the hype. My favourite shade is Mood Exposure but if I had the money, I’d buy them all! They retail for $52 CAD.
Essence Pure Nude Highlighter + ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in Wisp
While we’re on the topic of affordable yet amazing makeup products, these two gorgeous highlights are a must! As a combo-oily skin girl, I never used to wear highlighter because I thought it would make me look greasy. The Essence Pure Nude Highlight completely changed my mind and is the absolute BEST natural highlight on the market. It’s also the most affordable highlight I’ve been able to find – $4.99!
The ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in the shade Wisp is also a staple of mine. It’s a gold pearl shade that doesn’t look chunky on the cheeks at all and is definitely more intense than the Essence highlight. Plus it retails for $8 USD which is pretty affordable.
Honourable mention: Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector in the shade Opal! It’s one of my favourites because of its beautiful white gold reflects. Perfect for when I’m paler in the winter and tan in the summer!
Glossier Boy Brow
I’ve tried about 2-3 different brands when it comes to brow gels but this one takes the cake! This brow gel fills in the sparse areas without giving them a heavy and crusty look afterwards. I also love that the brush is tiny enough to get every single hair groomed exactly the way you want! While a brow gel isn’t completely necessary after filling them in with a pencil or powder, I really love how it gives your brows some extra dimension and giving them a fluffy look! Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer
While I love a good matte bronzer, the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer has really made me love a satin finish! Just like the name suggests, it glides on super smooth and buttery and isn’t too dark. What I love the most about this bronzer is that you can pack it on and it’ll still never look like too much. It warms up the face so beautifully that you’ll look like you were sitting in the sun all day. The formula itself also smells like a tropical island! It retails between $15.99-$20.99 depending where you go.
Honourable mention: My first high-end bronzer was the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and I still use it to this day! It smells like chocolate and is perfect for lightly bronzing and even contouring since it’s a matte finish. I’ve had it for almost 3 years and haven’t hit pan on it yet!
NYX Lip Lingerie in the shade Ruffle Trim and Seduction
If you follow me on my Instagram (@beautywithmiriam1), you’re probably tried of hearing me talk about these liquid lipsticks so often! The NYX Lip Lingerie‘s are my go-to and I pretty much wear them everyday. Before I had my summer tan, Ruffle Trim was my favourite shade and now I go for Seduction. The formula is a plush matte finish and doesn’t dry the heck out of your lips during the day. I think my favourite part of the collection is the HUGE range of nude shades to pick from! Whether you’re in the light, medium, tan or deep category, there’s a perfect shade for you. They retail for $10-11 CAD depending where you go so I’m never afraid to runout and restock since they’re so affordable.
Honourable mention: If you’re looking for another affordable yet comfortable liquid lipstick, the Pixi Beauty MatteLast Liquid Lips are amazing! It literally feels like you’re wearing nothing on the lips and the applicator makes it super easy to apply. I love the shades Evening Rose and Real Red.
There are SO many different eyeshadows to choose from in the beauty community. But if I had to choose the ones I couldn’t live without, it would be my ColourPop Single Shadows and their palettes! The quality is amazing, there are tons of colours and finishes to pick from (everything from neutral, colourful, shimmer, glitter, matte etc.).
Honourable mention: The Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette is an absolute staple in my makeup collection as well. The shadows can be used for everyday, a special occasion for a super glam night!
Too Faced Born This Way Sculpting Concealer
If I could use one concealer for the rest of my life it would be this. It’s medium to full coverage without being drying so it works great not only as a concealer, but foundation as well! I also love that the applicator is larger than normal so it’s easy to cover imperfections. If you want to read a more in-depth review of this product, check out the full review I wrote when it first came out last year!
Honourable mention: The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is so hydrating while leaving you with a dewy and medium to full coverage finish! It is quite pricey and I find I tend to go through it fast, but it’s still a favourite of mine.
Benefit Cosmetics Badgal BANG Mascara
Mascara is one of those makeup products that are so personal but I still want to share my faves! The Benefit BadGal Bang Mascara is something I’ve been using literally every day for the past couple months. It works for both my bottom and top lashes without making them clumpy. I love that it gives both incredible length to my short lashes but volume as well.
Honourable mention: The L’Oreal Lash Paradise and Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara are both staples in my routine as well! I’ve repurchased them countless times and are great at giving my lashes both volume and length.
And that’s it! I didn’t mention eyeliner or setting spray because while I do enjoy a couple different products, I haven’t found one that I absolutely love yet. I hope that sharing my must-have beauty products has given you some inspo on what to try next (or maybe we already love the same products, yay!).
